Wexford vs. Cranberry Township: Which Is Better for You?

By Aubre J. Stacknick, Global Real Estate Advisor, Piatt Sotheby's International Realty. Originally published on aubrestacknick.com.

Neither is universally "better." Wexford and Cranberry offer different housing choices, municipalities, school districts, taxes, commute patterns and lifestyles. The better choice depends on what matters most to you.

This is exactly how I want relocation clients thinking.

Don't ask me:

"What's the best suburb?"

Ask:

"What's the best fit for my life?"

Wexford

"Wexford" can describe a mailing area spanning more than one municipality and school district, so the address alone doesn't tell you everything.

Depending on where you're looking, buyers may encounter different municipalities, tax structures, housing styles and school districts.

That makes the exact property important.

Cranberry Township

Cranberry offers extensive shopping, restaurants, employment access and a wide range of established and newer residential communities.

It can be especially attractive to buyers who value proximity to the Route 228/I-79 corridor and newer housing options.

Here's What I'd Compare

Instead of declaring a winner, compare:

Commute

Where are you actually going five days a week?

House

Older established home? New construction? Acreage? Maintenance-free?

Budget

Don't compare asking prices alone. Consider taxes, HOA fees and anticipated property expenses.

Lifestyle

Where do you shop, work out, eat, walk and spend your weekends?

Future

Could your commute, family needs or housing requirements change?

Aubre's Rule

Don't choose the ZIP code first and force the house into it.

Let's understand the life you're trying to build, then find the communities and properties that support it.

That's Know Before You Move™.
